It might just be me but whenever i attempt a work of art it never comes out the way i expect or even imagine it might be, but theres so many people out there who can just reel off a bit of art in 3 minutes and it’s bloody amazing. The best thing i’ve ever done in that time is ruin a perfectly good coat with a flyaway cottage pie.

Browsing away this afternoon i discovered a few works of art that caught my eye. They look so incredibly detailed but amazingly effortless, though i know if i tried myself they wouldn’t look so! The first i came across was a really cute book by Rob Ryan called “This is For You”, i think it’s being advertised as a book for Valentines because it’s so lovey dovey and romantic. His work is made out of paper cut into shapes or cut out like a stencil, and is copied into his book. There are some incredible pieces of work in there, all made into a story with romantic tag lines. It’s sort of weird to think that a bit of paper cut out into lines and shapes could make such an incredible picture but they’re so intricate, and Rob Ryan seems to be able to do it as easy as the ABC.

The next piece i came across whilst poring over Digg.com, and immediately wanted to blog about it. This woman is called Naomi and she makes the most delicious looking cakes and sweets. She’s put photos on her Flickr page Hello Naomi and i spent ages just flicking through all the amazing confectionery she’s created. There’s Super Mario cupcakes for the nerds out there and even Pac Man cakes you can sit side by side to create a Pac Man maze! My favourite though are the girlie ones with coloured icing and every glittery topping known to man, silver balls and blue sprinkles, pink flowers and white chocolate curls, yum! All this talk about cakes is making me hungry. I don’t think i’ve ever seen such creativity in cake-making because for me a simple victoria sponge makes me proud! After the lemon sorbet and apple fritter try-outs the other week i may attempt my hand at cupcake decoration :)

Flip flops have been the staple in the fashion diet this summer, well they have been when it’s not been raining!, and I’ve appreciated the times when i can wear them.

They just look so good with a pair of leggings and a nice primark smock, and i had my eye on a lovely pair from Office before someone ruined it by saying it looked like they had anal beads stuck on them…but there’s one woman who appreciates them for more than their ability to make her look good.

Marie Drackert got more than she bargained for when wearing her flip flops whilst watching TV, granted they were cheap old kicks, but she believes they are the reason she didn’t die that night. She’d settled down in her favourite chair to watch the weather on the telly box, only for a huge bolt of lightening to crack its way through the sky and shoot down her chimney! It almost frazzled the poor woman, and burnt out her washer and dryer, television, telephone, stereo, microwave, toaster, coffee pot and a brand-new air-conditioning unit. The rubber sole of her trusty flip flops had grounded her as the electricity bolted through her body and saved her from a good frying! She thought it was a plane crashing into her house, but felt extremely lucky when told it was lightening, and survived with only half a damaged house and a frizzy perm! I would imagine she looked something like Joshua Von Grimm, but since i try to make my hair as wild as that for a night out maybe i should take tips from Ms Drackert.

You really cant make this stuff up…
